Butterfly Garden
Although monarchs and skippers have always been present at Green Lawn, they now have a designated place that provides for their natural growth and development.
In 1996, the Columbus Audubon Society began developing a Green Lawn butterfly garden, just west of the administration building. The garden now consists of three planted areas, with the larger back section being a native prairie garden. These planted areas include cultivars and native species that provide habitat or nectar sources for adult butterflies and humming birds.
Butterfly tours are available in the summer months each year. The gardens not only successfully attract and nurture butterflies, they also enhance the natural color and beauty of the park.
