Green Lawn's Arboretum

| Autumn at Green Lawn |
Throughout the developed area of Green Lawn, there are an estimated 3,000 trees providing shelter for wildlife, a spectrum of color in autumn and a canopy of shade in the heat of summer. Although Green Lawn loses about forty trees annually through natural attrition, the support of the Friends of Green Lawn have, through generous gifts, given us the opportunity to replenish the lost trees with new specimens.
In the spring and summer, the grounds of Green Lawn are adorned with thousands of flowering trees and shrubs - pinks, mauves, yellows and whites can be observed as one strolls through Green Lawn's sections.
In the fall, Green Lawn is at its best. Bursting with red, gold, russet and yellow, the cemetery's trees provide a spectacular sight for our visitors. Many people bring their cameras to capture the natural beauty of the season.
Green Lawn is home to three state champion trees. To be considered for such recognition, a tree is measured (height, diameter, and average crown spread) and given points. Each species of tree with the most points is deemed a state champion. Green Lawn has champions in the following species of trees: Black Maple, Douglas Fir, Oriental Spruce and Chinese Juniper.
Green Lawn invites you to come and see our special place which has often been called an arboretum and park. Information and maps can be obtained at the Administrative Office, at the park's entrance.
