An obelisk is a tall, four-sided, tapering pillar, finished at the top like a pyramid. The top portion of this type of monument is carved from a single piece of stone. The height of these structures at Green Lawn can range from 6 feet up to 40 feet. Next time you're visiting Green Lawn, stand next to one of these large obelisks and imagine the immensely difficult task that it must have been to erect such a monument prior to the industrial age and the availability of motorized equipment.
