Tours & Events
Groups and individuals are welcome
to visit Green Lawn. Tours are given
upon request. Call Green Lawn to
schedule a tour.

Green Lawn Cemetery is rich in history, heritage, art, architecture and arboreal beauty. The 360 acres provide a wealth of opportunities for photography and other forms of artistic expression.

Tour guides, often in costume, point out the different types of monuments and pay attention to historical aspects of the cemetery, particularly the hitching post on the west side of Section M, and the stepping stones throughout the older sections.

Bus tours take visitors on a scenic route through the cemetery, with stops at outstanding monuments and historic grave sites and sections.

Captain Eddie Rickenbacker
Among the famous grave sites are those of five Ohio governors - William Dennison, James Campbell, George Nash, John Bricker, and James Rhodes; five Congressional Medal of Honor recipients - James Ovid Smith, Frederick Pfisterer, Clinton Greaves, Stanislaus Roy and Captain Eddy Rickenbacker; numerous educators - including two presidents of The Ohio State University; ancestors of Presidents Woodrow Wilson, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush; early residents of Franklin County, business people, military sections, children's sections, and much more.

Tours take visitors over the historic iron bridge and around the pond, which is the focal point for birding activities. Tours also highlight the wildlife habitat, the prairie grass area and the butterfly garden.

All tours stop at the Chapel Mausoleum where visitors have the opportunity to view the video of the cemetery and take a walk around sections close to the Chapel.

All tours are free, but donations are welcome. All donations go to the Green Lawn Volunteers to further their efforts of educating the public about the rich history, heritage, art, architecture and arboreal beauty that is Green Lawn Cemetery.
